Sign advertising “Time Nightclub,” which I imagine is a strip club or brothel on Portland Street, in Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong (which is one of Hong Kong’s red light districts). The sign reads, “Time Nightclub, come to visit the theatre of dream and experience the greatest touch feeling enjoyment.” You will never feel alone and can enjoy 1 * 2 * 3 if you wish. Don’t miss the chance for good quality service and you much have an unforgettable memory.”

Prostitution is legal in Hong Kong, and there are many “red light” districts where sex workers play their trade. One such district is Portland Street, in the Mong Kok area of Kowloon. The sign here shows the rates that one pays to obtain the services of different nationalities of women. Russian prostitutes command the highest price, followed by Chinese and Hong Kongese prostitutes, and finally “Malay Thai”. Prostitution is a thorny issue (as is the relative “worth” of one ethnicity over another), and one I am not really equipped to speak to, especially in this forum, so I present this picture just as a document to what is going on in the Hong Kong, and the world.
